This service works for BOTH New and Used Vehicles, including buying out your Leased Car. We generally DON’T do deals on very old, high mileage cars. Please take the time to read and understand this entire outline. If you purchase the interview call with Kevin or Liz, it is assumed that you have read this through and also understand how our Car Buying Service works.

This Car Buying Service leverages our 15 Year car industry knowledge, expertise, and our connections to secure the best possible available car deal in the market near you.

To offer this service, we have several Car Coaches on “The Homework Guy” Team, and right now, helping people buy cars (Both NEW or USED, in the US or Canada) happens to be their primary task! Our coaches have significant industry experience or have been screened and trained in by Kevin and/or Liz, and they demonstrate some of the most consistently effective negotiation skills we’ve ever seen!

In addition to an assigned Coach, you also get direct access to our show hosts, Kevin and Liz. We are the ONLY Show Hosts who communicate directly with our viewers. First, you get Liz, then she connects you to Kevin. As an amazing Team in YOUR corner, we are a Car Dealer's Kryptonite!

We strive to make the level of communication something you’d refer to as exceptional (You should immediately let Kevin or Liz know if you think the communication isn’t first rate… we WILL fix that or reassign you to another coach). The typical time frame is a week or two, but can go faster in the right situation. That’s entirely up to how prepared YOU are, and how realistic your expectations are. You should plan for three weeks unless told otherwise.

Upon payment of your initial invoice, we plug you into a coach quickly! Usually within 24 hours of you paying the initial $750 invoice (unless it’s on a weekend), then our Team goes to work representing YOU, to find YOU a vehicle that matches your needs at a much more favorable total cost.

On average, our viewers are saving 3 to 4 times the cost of the service! That ROI leads the industry, but yes, it does depend on the kind of vehicle you’re after! Rare vehicles, and those in very short supply, are more difficult to accomplish big savings on. The best part is: EVERYONE is SAVED the hassle of negotiating with an unscrupulous Car Dealer, and NOBODY pays more than they should. We guarantee that!

Got a Trade-in or a Lease Return?

No Problem. If you have a Trade, or a Lease to turn in, be aware that your vehicle is an additional negotiation that your coach will need to do. Because of that, there is an additional charge of $100 for negotiating your trade-in or lease return, all of which goes directly to your assigned coach. You should text Liz your trade VIN, miles, and trim level so we can book it out and determine a good trade value. Your coach will add this charge to the final $200 invoice (adding $100 per traded vehicle). If you don’t like the amount the coach gets on the trade and you elect to keep it out of the deal, there will be no charge.

FYI: OUR COACHES ARE THE BEST PAID IN THE INDUSTRY BECAUSE THEY DO THE BEST JOB!

Most of the money you pay for this service goes directly to your assigned Coach! We are NOT a top heavy, investor driven, bureaucratic organization. No other Car Buying Service lets you talk directly to the Show Hosts. Because there is no middleman, our Car Coaches make 50% more than others working for a competing Car Buying Service! Here at THG, the person who does most of the work gets most of the pay! And… that’s just the way it SHOULD be!

Terms of Service / Disclaimer

YOUR Preparation & Qualifications to be approved with us:

  1. If you need financing to buy your vehicle, we need to know you have good enough credit to qualify for a loan, either through your own bank or credit union, the manufacturer, or the dealer. Cash buyers are always good with us, too! And congratulations if you ARE a Cash Buyer!

  2. You need to have your vehicle choice narrowed down to a specific make and model. It’s acceptable if you also have a 2nd option in mind. Your Coach will help you narrow that down. That said, the vehicle that you want MUST be commonly available in the car market. We simply CANNOT be on a wild goose chase for you, trying to acquire a vehicle or options that don’t exist. You must also have a realistic budget.

  3. You MUST Test Drive. We want you to test drive the vehicle you think that you like, either before or right after we assign you a coach. We don’t want to negotiate on a vehicle you haven’t ever driven.

  4. After you are accepted into this service program and have paid your first invoice, you will complete an “Intake Form” which we will email to you. The Intake Form provides us with the written details of the vehicle you want us to acquire for you, so please answer every question thoroughly. Skipped questions or incomplete answers are not acceptable.

  5. Once the process starts, you must be ready to act fast to secure a deal the coach negotiates for you. If a deposit (usually $500) is needed to hold a car for you, be ready to do that. Since we don’t handle credit card information, you’ll be put in touch with the dealer to do the hold deposit.

TIME is a very important commodity to us. There are a lot of people waiting for our help. So, our Coaches and our THG Team cannot be stuck in limbo, assisting ONLY YOU, for an indefinite period of time. You need to be aware that being indecisive and waffling on your vehicle choice can destroy leverage that is critical to your Coach being able to negotiate the right deal for you. Dealers are usually compliant on a first time approach, but if they have to go back multiple times and break promises of having a ready buyer, dealers can start shutting down on them. That loses leverage, it costs us time, and it also costs you money in savings. Also, don’t “ghost” your coach. If you have to unplug for a few days for personal reasons, business, or a vacation, call or text to let your coach know. If you cannot make a decision on a vehicle despite your Coach making repeated efforts to help you, we may reach a point where we decide our obligation to you has been satisfied. (We DO NOT offer refunds to people who have completely unrealistic expectations and are wasting our time).

Refunds:

If your coach finds and negotiates a car deal for you and you back out for ANY reason (in other words: You do NOT take the deal), we will still pay the Coach $400 out of your initial Invoice (after all, he did the job you hired us to do). That means you will get a refund of $300 or $350 depending on what your initial invoice was. If you receive this refund, you will NOT be responsible for paying any further invoices from THG or our coach on the car deal in question.

If the Coach rejects you after reading your intake form and before any service is provided, or you decide to change your mind before he puts time into assisting you, 100% of your initial invoice ($700 or $750) will be refunded. Intake Phone calls that are completed and provided to you will NOT be a part of a refund as the call has already been completed by the show host as agreed.

The BEST NEWS: YOU hardly have to lift a finger. In fact, you should STOP car hunting if you hire us. You MUST let your Coach take over. If you make contacts behind the scenes, you can handicap the Coach’s negotiation leverage! We DO handle EVERYTHING, including the time-consuming tasks of researching vehicles, comparing prices, and contacting and negotiating with multiple dealers on your behalf.

YOU ARE involved in the decision making process. Our coach finds the cars that match your shared preferences, and keeps you informed. We always start by looking closest to you (near your home zip code). We show you what we’ve found, and then you pick the vehicle you want us to go after. If you are able and willing to travel outside of your area, please let us know in writing via text or email.

Before you make any trips to the Dealership, you will ALWAYS get all the details of your Final OTD Offer sent directly to you in advance. We want you to know exactly what you’re signing for when the time comes, so don’t jump the gun on this. Your coach will ask you to compare the details you were sent with what the dealer has on their paperwork. Dealers are advised that you will WALK OUT if they attempt any games with you.

This service includes helpful advice on every aspect of the car deal, including what to do once you get in the Finance Office.

We ONLY Negotiate on OTD Pricing!

OTD Pricing Explained: We don’t argue with dealers over a line item charge, like a document fee (for example), even though we disagree with it. With that said, it’s possible that your car contract could show a document fee or another type of dealer fee. You might wonder why those charges are there (since we don’t agree with paying for those fees) However, the coach will negotiate a big enough discount off the purchase price to offset those charges (if they still appear on the OTD). The net effect: You’ll be money ahead and the dealer will have subtracted the fees or extra charges out of the price of the car! (A typical dealer will try to add around $3,000 in extras onto your car deal)

  1. To get started now, purchase the $99 phone call with Kevin. If you are a repeat customer, you will NOT need to buy the call a second time. You can just text Kevin or Liz and say you’re ready for another vehicle, no phone call charge. By his method, repeat buyers save $100 on their next vehicle.

The call will be scheduled within 24-48 hours and takes just 10-15 minutes of your time. Kevin and Liz are the ONLY Show Hosts who will take time out of their day to talk to you. We hope you appreciate that. Nobody else offers this level of personalized service. We will interview you and determine if you are a good fit for this service.

If the conclusion is that this won’t work for you (which usually is due to a credit problem, or very unrealistic customer expectations) we may elect to refund your call money.

  1. After this conversation, if you are good to go, we will send you an invoice for $750 (or $700 to veterans). If you have a trade or lease return, you will be charged an additional $100 (at the very end) by your assigned coach on your final invoice.

*DISCOUNT: ONLY Veterans, and current military service members will be given a $50 discount on the initial invoice. Your initial invoice to start service will be $700 (not $750), making your total cost for our services: $1,000. When the initial invoice is paid, the next step is you’ll need to complete an intake form we email to you. Don’t worry, we will send it to you when we receive notice that your invoice was paid. When that is completed, our Coach goes right to work for you (usually by the next business day).

  1. When you indicate the zip code you are in, the coach starts with dealers closest to you. At the end, after our Coach has secured a car for you to buy, you’ll receive a final invoice of $200 after you take delivery of the vehicle. If you decided to trade in your vehicle or had us assist you with returning your lease during this process, this invoice will be increased by $100 per each traded or turned in vehicle.

100% of this final payment will go directly to your coach. This is your opportunity to tip your coach if you feel you got really great service! When they go above and beyond for you and for our team, help us make sure they know it!
